Budget Installation vs High Quality Installation
Seattle ClearBra offers a couple tiers of quality when it comes to our Tesla clear bra installations, ceramic coating and window tint. With clear bra installations the difference between a budget and a high-quality paint protection film installation is the number of wrapped edges which requires parts to be removed on order to access some of the corners. Of course, this all takes more time and leads to a greater cost to the client. With the high-quality installation, you get a full lifetime workmanship warranty on any peeling, dirt under film, install errors, compared to the budget installation which is mainly a warranty that covers installation errors as we know edges will collect dirt in time since so many of them will be exposed.
When it comes to our window tinting installations, the difference in a budget vs high quality is a bit more about the film itself. PRIME CS series is our budget film offered but is rarely ever installed on a Tesla vehicle. Next in line is PRIME XR which is the ceramic nano technology film that is designed to stop Infared heat and UV. The highest quality installation is done with Xpel PRIME XR PLUS and is a top-of-the-line film, rejecting the most amount of heat from the sun. All of the films offer a lifetime manufacturer warranty through Xpel and all of them stop 99.9% UV.
With ceramic coating, the differences are do you want the Tesla polished before application (highly recommended), just do it on the painted areas, include the glass, plastic, rim faces, or rims removed and done on the calipers and all of the rims.
Tesla Model S Vehicle Protection Services
Model S Paint Protection Film Options: The Tesla Model S is an amazing electric sedan we do often at our Seattle ClearBra shop in Redmond, with Xpel protection films and products. This ranges from Xpel ULTIMATE PLUS gloss clear bra paint protection film onto Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION which is still a gloss transparent film but has Xpel FUSION ceramic coating applied during the manufacturing process. Like most other Tesla clear bra installations, we do the Model S clients near always get a full coverage installation. A portion of the Model S owners will decide to go with Xpel STEALTH clear bra which will change the finish of their Tesla to a satin matte finish while keeping the same color it was originally sold with.
Model S Window Tinting: When we do the window tint on a Model S, it’s common to do all windows including the front windshield. Usually, the window tinting done is 15% on the rear sides and rear windshield, 30% on the front side windows to keep it legal and 70% on the front windshield and sunroof. The reason for 70% tint on the front windshield and sunroof is to keep it legal, and not diminish the view out the sunroof and front windshield. Of course, we do more than just Tesla vehicles. Model S Ceramic Coating: Since most Tesla installations nowadays are done with a full coverage installation, and the new Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION ceramic coated PPF we don’t have to add it to a full coverage clear bra PPF package. If the client chooses to only cover the partial vehicle, we can add the Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating to the areas where they clear bra is not installed. We can also add it to the exterior windows and rim face plus other areas if desired as well.
Tesla Model 3 Vehicle Protection Services
Model 3 Paint Protection Film Options: When installing on the Tesla Model 3 we generally do full coverage installations on the whole body although at times some clients only get the full front and rockers plus Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating on the rest of their Tesla. Model 3’s have a great problem area right in front of the rear wheels called the rear wheel impact area. If this area is not done, and you do any highway driving, the paint will literally begin to sand blast off of the body. This is why at minimum we recommend the full front and rocker panel installation. this will eliminate that issue, but of course won’t keep you safe from door dings, errant shopping carts and you’d still have to get yearly polishing on the areas not covered with clear bra, in order to maintain the shiny finish on the paint.
Model 3 Window Tinting: The most common Tesla Model 3 window tinting installation are full sides, rear windshield and sunroof although some will also opt for the front windshield as well in order to keep the interior as comfortable as possible. The other benefits of doing the front windshield are to protect your skin from UV and the interior surfaces. In addition, the tinting will cut down on some of the suns glare.
Model 3 Ceramic Coating: Since the release of the Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION ceramic coated clear bra, and the fact most Tesla vehicles get a full coverage clear bra installation, there’s not a great need of applying more ceramic coating to the painted surfaces. This said, if doing a full front or full front and rocker panel installation the Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating can be applied to the areas where the clear bra is not installed. This will give you an easier cleaning experience while protecting the most commonly damaged areas from highway driving. As with any other Tesla model you can have the Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating applied to the rim faces, glass and interior of the vehicle seats or other surfaces.
Tesla Model X Vehicle Protection Services
Model X Paint Protection Film Options: Model X protection services we generally do are full coverage clear bra paint protection film with Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION that has ceramic coating installed at the factory using Xpel FUSION PLUS. Some clients opt to change the appearance of their Model X with Xpel STEALTH, which is a satin matte translucent clear bra designed to offer protection and change the looks on your model X with a satin finish. In short, the Xpel STEALTH will eliminate the gloss look you currently have on your Model X and replace it with a satin matte look. Both of these films have a 10-year warranty on them through Xpel and when doing our high-quality installation, we add to that with a full lifetime workmanship warranty to add piece of mind during your ownership.
Model X Window Tinting: full window tint with either Xpel PRIME XR or Xpel PRIME XR PLUS. Both of these window tint options are nano ceramic-based tints with lifetime warranties. In addition, the PRIME XR stops up to 88% Infared heat and the PRIME XR PLUS increases this up to a maximum of 92% Infared heat rejection. Either tint option is at the top of its class and provides immense benefits to the driver and passengers in terms of comfort. Beyond the heat rejection the Xpel PRIME series film also reject 99.9% of the UV. This amount of UV rejection will help keep your skin safe and is recommended by the skin cancer foundation and also helps protect the interior from fading or cracking. Many clients will do 20% on the two front side windows and 70% in the rear windows if looking to have the shade of all windows match as close as possible. However, this is always a personal choice as we’ve had many Tesla Model X clients who choose to go with a 15% tint on the rears in order to add as much privacy as reasonably possible without going too dark by using a 5% limo tint.
Model X Ceramic Coating: Rarely, but at times a Model X client will get a full front and Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating applied to the rest of the vehicle. Simply based on price alone of the Model X and any Tesla for that matter we advise against this and urge a full coverage clear bra be installed using Xpel ULITMATE FUSION which gives the best of both worlds of the clear bra to protect from damages to the paint and ceramic coating combined to help make the washing easier.
Tesla Model Y Vehicle Protection Services
Model Y Paint Protection Film Options: Tesla Model Y is a great option for most looking for a bigger vehicle, but at a less cost than the Model X. This doesn’t in any way mean it should be less protected than the Model X though. Taking all past experience into consideration, it is almost all Tesla Model Y vehicle protection installations we do at Seattle ClearBra end up going for the full coverage clear bra installation, and some level of window tinting. Much like the other models though, there are some who choose to do only the full front and rocker panel area which are the worst areas damaged from highway driving.
Model Y Window Tinting: being the full sides and rear windshield tint with Xpel PRIME XR. Those who plan to spend time down south are best served getting the Xpel PRIME XR PLUS as its extra heat rejection is going to offer you an increased comfort level, when driving on the hot days in places like Las Vegas, California, Texas etc… Much like the Model S the Model Y has a huge sunroof that allows in a great deal of heat due to its size. The sunroof, along with the front windshield make up the bulk of the cost to cover all windows on a Model Y.
Model Y Ceramic Coating:
As mentioned previously, the thought may have been to do a psychedelic flip purple viny wrap on the Tesla Model 3. This said, after some discussion on the longevity issues of vinyl wraps, plus the limited warranty offered we are proud the end option was the STEK DYNOpurple installation, and the results speak for themselves. With the STEK DYNOpurple you get a 10-year warranty vs at most 5 years with vinyl wraps. On top of this the STEK DYNOpurple clear bra PPF has a pre-ceramic coated surface, ability to stop rock chips, scratches, sandblasting, errant shopping carts and even door dings. This is heads and feet above what one would ever get from vinyl wraps.
Tesla Colored Clear Bra and Vinyl Wraps
On our Tesla Xpel Redmond Clear Bra PPF Paint Protection Film page, we wanted to add the option to get a full color change or even a partial color change with a chrome delete for the older Tesla vehicles or A-pillar delete option. The chrome delete or a-pillar delete is generally done with satin or gloss black vinyl wrap. The reason for this is generally those areas are not prone to rock chips and abuse like the rest of the vehicle. Keep in mind vinyl wraps are not self-healing like the clear bra, have far less warranty and don’t stand up very well to highways driving and rock chips. In short vinyl wraps are a temporary option that will need to be replaced often, to keep it looking good. With a vinyl wrap your Tesla will still receive damages to the painted areas.
Now we can say the industry is constantly moving forward and nowadays there are colored clear bra film. Since it’s a newer product there are limited amounts of color options at present although we see this constantly growing as times goes on. The great thing about a colored clear bra film is it does have a self-healing surface, comes already preceramic coated and has warranties up to 10 years just like the Xpel paint protection film. The recent Tesla Model 3 we did with STEK DYNOpurple is a great example of what can be done with colored clear bra paint protection film. Yes, we agree this comes at a higher cost dollar wise, a fair bit above a colored vinyl wrap. This said, with a vinyl wrap you’ll always be replacing pieces as the years go on. Also, sooner than later, a thin vinyl wrap will need to be fully replaced. At this point one has to hope over the years the vinyl wrap manufacture continues to make the same color with the same blend or even with some small damages, it will be impossible to replace and match the original vinyl wrap. With the longevity expected from colored clear bra paint protection film, this is mostly eliminated, due to the fact most clients don’t own the vehicle beyond 10 years, which is what the period of the warranty is for on most of the color clear bra films.

Full front Tesla installations: We take down the front bumper, lower the lights, take off the emblem and remove the side camera or wheel well trim on the X and Y. This of course is in addition to fully washing the front end, clay bar and silicone wax removal process. This type of clear bra installation, like the full coverage below, allows us to wrap virtually every single edge around the corner providing a far cleaner installation. With this extensive preparation and installation, you have a full lifetime workmanship warranty to our Seattle ClearBra clients along with the 10-year warranty through Xpel.
Full Coverage Tesla Installations: We take down the front bumper, rear bumper, lower the head lights, remove the taillights, take off the front and rear emblems, remove trim around the windows and remove the side camera or wheel well trim on the X and Y. This of course is in addition to fully washing and detailing the full vehicle, clay bar and silicone wax removal process. The reason for this is, to allow us to wrap virtually every single edge around the corner providing our clients a far cleaner installation. Also, with this type of installation, you get a full lifetime workmanship warranty through Seattle ClearBra along with the 10-year warranty through Xpel.
Xpel Paint Protection Film
The 4 main clear bra films through Xpel have 10-year manufacturer warranties, self-healing properties and are as follows:
- Xpel ULTIMATE PLUS – This is a glossy transparent film used to protect most vehicles, be it on the body or interior pieces and interior screens.
- Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION – Same as the ULTIMATE PLUS except with smoother surface and Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating applied during the manufacturing process.
- Xpel STEALTH – Satin matte transparent clear bra used to protect an existing satin finish on your vehicle, or to change from a gloss finish to a satin finish, while maintaining the original color.
- Xpel ULTIMATE PLUS BLACK – A clear bra film used to change a surface to a gloss black finish.
The benefits of a full coverage clear bra installation, beyond all panels protected from scratching and rock chips, is there will never be a need to polish the paint. This is because the Xpel ULTIMATE PLUS or FUSION paint protection film has a self-healing surface, that self-heals when its warm outside, allowing the film to heal from most minor abrasions. This could be from your washing equipment, careless hand, or item rubbing on the surface, especially when it’s a black or dark colored vehicle. To not oversell and exaggerate the self-healing properties, you can still scratch the film to a point of the clear bra surface not being able to heal. This would generally be by purposely scratching the PPF with a sharp object, or if someone tries to key the vehicle in an attempt to scratch the paint as some examples. The good news here is the Xpel ULTIMATE or Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION PPF clear bra will act as a barrier and sacrificial layer, very likely saving the vehicle from needing to go to a body shop for painting, saving time and money. Further to this, if you take your vehicle off-roading the pin striping usually done when tree branches rub down the side of the vehicle in most cases, self-heal when it’s sunny out. This would again save a good deal of time generally spent polishing out those fine scratches.
When it comes time for washing your Tesla, or any other vehicle with Xpel paint protection film, the process is as one would normally wash the vehicle. This can be in a brushed drive thru wash, touchless car wash or hand washed. At Seattle ClearBra we always recommend hand washing, although not required. One cavate to this is if you have Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION clear bra, or a Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating applied, or any other ceramic coating for that matter, it’s always best that your vehicle should be hand washed, and never an automated wash. The reason for this statement is, harsh chemicals found in automated washes will rapidly remove the ceramic coating, thereby wasting the money or time you spent applying the ceramic coating, as it will need to be re applied much sooner. Xpel has a great companion product used to keep your ceramic coating alive called Xpel BOOST. This product is applied after washing and will help keep the hydrophobicity characteristics of your ceramic coating working. Xpel PRIME Window Tinting
As previously mentioned, we normally only do Xpel PRIME XR or PRIME XR PLUS ceramic series tint on Tesla vehicles at our Redmond Washington shop. The Xpel PRIME series window tint series will stop a great deal of Infared heat and near 100% UV rejection. There is also a Xpel PRIME XR PLUS series of window tint film stops the most Infared heat. At Seattle ClearBra we have a carbon series color stable window tint film called Xpel PRIME CS as well which is used to provide shading, while not stopping much Infared heat rejection. The Xpel PRIME CS series on window tint is more of a budget film, for those who simply want the tinted look and not concerned about heat rejection.
STEK DYNOflex Windshield Protection
DYNOflex windshield protection film is a semi-permanent installation, that’s a sacrificial layer, taking the abuse vs the windshield. It’s expected that every so often the DYNOflex windshield film will need to be replaced in order to keep your windshield as clear as possible. The only minor complaint we, or anyone could have of this protection film for your windshield is, it does create a very minor distortion when focusing on little things, while looking out the window.
Xpel FUSION PLUS Ceramic Coating
Xpel FUSION PLUS ceramic coating is a very good idea, if you always hand wash your vehicle. This said, if taking your vehicle through drive through car washes, or a certain budget, has you focusing on the choice of clear bra or ceramic coating, we would always suggest do the paint protection film first and foremost. The reason for this is the ceramic coating may last 2 years or more vs the PPF lasting upwards of 10 years or more, with a full 10-year warranty through Xpel and a lifetime warranty on the installation through Seattle ClearBra. Most of our Tesla clients now opt for the Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION ceramic coated film, which then doesn’t require the addition of the Xpel ceramic coating. You can still add the Xpel ceramic coating to your glass and rims faces along with interior though if you so choose to help make those areas easy to clean.

A complimentary product to help maintain your ULTIMATE FUSION clear bra is Xpel BOOST. Xpel BOOST is a liquid you apply after you do a car wash by spraying it on your vehicle and wiping off with a microfiber cloth. Xpel STEALTH Clear Bra PPF
Xpel STEALTH clear bra PPF paint protection film is a translucent satin finish clear bra designed to change the finish of your vehicles finish from gloss to satin matte or protect an existing frozen satin finish. Much like the Xpel ULTIMATE Plus clear bra, Xpel STEALTH has a 10-year warranty against bubbling, cracking, discoloration, or staining and a lifetime installation warranty through Seattle ClearBra. You can wash the vehicle as you see fit and even have Xpel FUSION Plus ceramic coating applied.
Xpel PRIME XR Window Tinting
Seattle ClearBra offers quality window tinting services using Xpel PRIME XR tint from Xpel. This is a lifetime warranty Nano ceramic series of window tint, designed to reject infrared heat up to 88%. We also offer a standard carbon series automotive window tint called Xpel PRIME CS. In addition, we offer a top performance infrared heat rejecting window tint Xpel PRIME XR PLUS.
Options range from 70% VLT to 5% VLT with the higher number being the lighter film and lower number being the darker. VLT stands for Visual Light Transmission. 5% is known as limo tint in the window tint industry and the higher 70% film is virtually see through. The 70% is generally used on front windshield as it does very little to change the look of the window or limit the view from in or outside of the windows where applied.
70% VLT is legal in Washington State for the front windshield and about 24% is the legal limit for the front side windows.
VLT Percentages Offered by Seattle ClearBra at our Redmond Washington Shop:
- 70% – Has a very slight tint and almost unnoticeable. Used on front windshields to keep it legal or if you don’t want a tinted look but want the infrared and UV rejection offered by a Nano ceramic tint
- 55% – Is a bit of a tint and very easy to see in and out regardless of day or night
- 30% – Legal for the front side windows and getting towards the darker side
- 20% – Closely matches factory OEM tinted privacy glass that comes on the rear windows of vehicles
- 15% – Not legal on front side windows or windshield and is getting pretty dark
- 5% – This is referred to as limo tint and very hard to see in, and difficult to see out at night when no lights around
Xpel FUSION Plus Ceramic Coating
Seattle ClearBra offers a high-quality ceramic coating Nano sealant being Xpel FUSION Plus to help protect your clear bra or other unprotected surfaces. This includes paint clear coat, plastic trim, fabric, leather, rims, windows, chrome and many other areas where ceramic coatings can be applied. Ceramic coating is designed and proven to prevent the contaminants from sticking and destroying areas protected. If you choose not to have clear bra installed on all painted clear coat areas, it’s recommended to polish aka do color correction on those areas to remove swirl marks, holograms and spiderwebbing. This will allow for the best look possible by preparing the clear coat on the paint surface to be protected by eliminating scratching.
